She has historically excelled in the area of government relations and has a strong record of achievements. Her love of policy and governmental issues began during her undergraduate years when she served as a legislative office assistant at the North Carolina General Assembly for then Majority Leader Leo Daughtry and Speaker Harold Brubaker. Ashley also served as a Congressional intern for Representative Howard Coble and as a White House intern in the West Wing Press Office under President Bill Clinton and Press Secretary Mike McCurry.
